WLC 300: Major Pro Seminar
Description:
This course introduces students to the majors in Japanese Language and Culture, Spanish or World Language and Cultures. Students acquire knowledge and understanding needed to fulfill Major Learning Outcomes for the programs. Students identify and work with a major advisor to develop individual learning plans. The course examines opportunities in related professional and career paths, including graduate education and teaching credential preparation. (Offered fall semester.)
Reflective Narrative: In this course it gave me an understanding of the Japanese language and culture majors through the learning plans. Also, with the path of graduation as well. To the point of what is necessary for us to graduate on time. Within the course we did a STAMP test which you can know how your Japanese level is in the portion of speaking, reading comprehension, writing, and other skills to understanding. In the STAMP test I learned that being able to know what my level is was kind of crucial for me because of the fact that being able to know my level of Japanese I could focus on it and be able to improve it from there. So, I will know my starting line when take the test. If you click here you can see my final stamp test results in which my level of reading, writing, speaking, and listening was at my goal from where I should be. In this course I think it was interesting because this course was taken with Japanese majors alongside with Spanish majors as well. Also, the other part that I think it was interesting is that throughout the class we discussed about what are careers going to be when graduating from CSUMB with a degree in a foreign language.
