2.1 MLO 2 mainly focuses on Japanese culture. In this portion, we get an understanding and knowledge of Japanese culture for the most part. To the point of perspectives, practices, and products. In Japanese 311 which is social issues in Japan I have learned a lot of social issues that I never knew before. This social issues class help me and gained my knowledge of how Japan is as a whole and their distinctive culture. On top of it I also learned other countries social issue as well and also got a better understanding of other countries cultures too. Another thing we had to do was an presentation for different prefectures social issue in Japan. If you click here you can see my presentation. This class gave me an understanding of social issue that I need to be aware of in which it helped when I took this class before study abroad to Japan. Now I have a better understanding of how Japanese culture is after learning from my Japanese 311 class.
2.2 Before study abroad to Japan, learning Japanese culture to the point of what is popular now a days and what to expect when I go there gave me a large amount of information that help me a lot. With the point that learning other countries culture, is crucial when visiting for the first time. I believe its global related when going anywhere around the world. For the most part, taking Japanese culture courses in Japan really helped me gain my knowledge about Japan. In the culture course Japanese 215, Cool Japan class it helped me gain my knowledge of Japan such as learning about Japanese architecture that I had to do a presentation on. If you click here you can see my powerpoint on architecture. Being in Japan and learning about the culture helped me improve my lack of knowledge when I entered CSUMB from the beginning. In addition, it gave me the awareness of how Japanese culture is in certain points such as respecting older person and other things. Also, my study abroad culture course gave me an deeper understanding as well as gaining my knowledge of how I learned Japanese culture compared to how I learned culture from Japanese school and my Japanese parents. It gave me the the extra confidence when I would work in Japan in the future.
