Reflective Narrative: This is a graduation writing class that is mandatory for students to take when are you at California State University Monterey Bay. In the class it focuses on writing at a high level. In this class we learned different things regarding to culture, ethnography, anthropology, colony and other things. In the course we had a powerpoint lecture from the teacher in which I learned about histories and anthropologies. If you click here you can see the powerpoint lecture that was presented in the class. In class we had four books that we had to read which is Children of Sanchez, Cosmic Race, Rigoberta Menchu the Guatemalan Women, and Predicament of Culture. Each of the books are significantly different to each other. Children of Sanchez is a autobiography of an Mexican family, the Predicament of Culture is a critical ethnography of the west in its changing relations with other societies, the Cosmic Race is about culture and mixed races and it has been said that the world would become a mixed people and mixed babies and lastly, the Rigoberta Menchu the Guatemalan Women talks about the author's own personal experience about her time in Mexico in which was suffering, violence, killing. Throughout the class we did lecture and book club which we had read a certain book and chapter and we had to do a discussion. In the book club we had a discussion leader who leads about a certain topic that could be controversial and we talk about it. Then lastly we had to do a final essay in regarding to all of the books. In this class, I have a feeling that I have learned some new things about different things. For example, ethnography and anthropology was two of the things I have never learned and it was nice to look at different things. I have learned a lot of things from this class as a whole regarding to the books.
